GNRC YOUTH-ARGENTINA EVALUATE ITS PROGRESS IN 2008

Entitled “Evaluating the year of this journey, constructing a culture of peace”, on 26 December, we met the youth of Pilar and La Matanza, the two zones where our monthly GNRC encounters took place. Gathered were 90 boys and girls and 10 educators.

We asked: 

What was the most valuable part of the encounters?
What could we point out as new lessons?
Could we apply any of the lessons?
In what circumstances can we apply the lessons?
What are the issues that are desirable to deal with next year?

The answers bring hope and new energy 

We could clearly see the evolution of the young people’s attitudes, with a marked feeling of belonging and involvement, from which emerges a real commitment that makes the transformation notable in their own lifetimes.

For the youth, the GNRC encounters were transformed into a reference space with a clear personal re-evaluation.

Issues to be dealt with in 2009 will include: 

Addictions,
Liberty and justice,
Sexuality (how to take of the person and the partner),
Reflection on the specific values of the truth, love and friendship.

At the end of the encounter, each young person shared a prayer or thought on the peace brought by each group and together we read the following:

“ Oh, Thou bountiful Lord!!! Join all of us together.
Let all religions agree and make all nations one alone,
So that all will be considered a single family and the whole earth a single home.
Let all live reunited in perfect harmony.
Oh Lord!!! Raise the banner of the unity of all humanity.
Oh God!!! Establish the Greatest Peace!!!
Join our hearts, oh God.
Oh Thou, bountiful father, rejoice our hearts with the fragrance of Thy love. Illuminate our eyes with the Light of Thy glory.
Delight our ears with the melody of Thy word,
and shelter us all with the strength of Thy Providence.”
